Shooting Hockey 09/04/2009
Traveling to Marlboro this weekend to shoot some more Hockey. I find the more experience you get the more natural the image will appear. Hockey is a very fast sport even when the young kids are playing. Anticipation is the key, almost like chess, you have to be a couple of steps of them at all times. If you wait the shot is gone and you can only wish to have it back again. The important this is not to dwell on what you have missed but to look ahead for the next shot. Shots on goal make the most impressive shots and also are the most difficult. I find myself keying in on the goalie and listening for "SHOOT" and the crack of the puck. If you keep a keen eye on the goalie, he or she will give you a clue that a shot may be coming. I have been lucky enough to capture the puck on its way into the goalies glove.
